What is the Poteet Strawberry Sift?

Since 1948, the Annual Poteet Strawberry Festival has been a collaborative effort by the Poteet Rotary, Poteet Lions Club, the Poteet Strawberry Festival Association, and now the Poteet Strawberry Growers Association. The Poteet Strawberry Festval is hosted in the Strawberry Capital of Texas, in Poteet, This premier fundraising achievement is made possible through the dedication of volunteer boards, numerous local and area volunteers, local growers, business sponsors, and the local community and non-profits. The Poteet Rotary spearheads the Poteet Strawberry SIFT, a competition where Grower-Select strawberries hand-icked by the local growers vie for the prestigious titles of Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion selected and awarded during the annual Poteet Strawberry Festival. These events not only showcase the finest locally grown strawberries as well as raising funds for scholarships that benefit local students every year. The Poteet Strawberry SIFT occurs on the weekend preceding the Poteet Strawberry Festival in early April, setting the stage for the subsequent Judging & Auction during the second weekend of April each year.
